Celebrating Lunar New Year with CF Markville

January 22, 2017

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Gong Hey Fat Choy! Happy New Year!

I am sooo ready for the Lunar New Year!  I’m decked out in my new year uniform and ready for fun celebrations with the family.
I was at CF Markville the other day and I happened to stumble upon this rad red floral bomber jacket from Forever 21 which I thought would go well with my rad red Aldo booties. I accessorized it with a Forever 21 choker and topped it off with a red lippie. I had some amazing good fortune that I was able to find the items in the same shade of red! The CF Markville gods were definitely looking out for me!
If you’re in the area, make sure to drop by the centre court of the shopping centre and LOOK UP. At least 200 red and gold lanterns are hanging down from the dome ceiling. Uhhhhh-MAZING.
But if there is a day I would recommend you visit CF Markville it would be on Saturday January 28th from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Be a part of the festivities that they have prepared for you and your family.  Beyond the amazing decor, they’re hosting an Eye Dotting Ceremony (also known as Choy Cheng) followed by a traditional Lion Dance performance to bring you good luck, prosperity and happiness. A face-changing performance will keep you highly entertained, but if fortune is what you’re looking for, lucky Red Pockets will be handed out by the God of Fortune (while supplies last).

AND THE GOOD NEWS KEEPS ON COMING! Share your experience with CF Markville using the hashtags #CFLunarNewYear or #新年快樂 or #恭禧發財 for a chance to WIN A CF SHOP CARD! More details can be found on their website, Facebook and Instagram. Also, customers who purchase a $100 CF SHOP! Card at Guest Services from January 13 to February 10 will be surprised with a custom CF packet of 10 Lucky Red pockets (while supplies last) – perfect for sharing in good fortune with family and friends.

For me, spending this time with my family is what makes it all the more enjoyable. We usually get together the night before for a big feast where relatives will hand out the much anticipated red pocket. I’m married now, so I no longer receive it. I now have to give it away. HAHA. Oh the days when money was free, am I right? But no seriously, family is important. At the end of the day, my good fortune is my family.

Even if you don’t celebrate it,  I think heading to CF Markville on January 28th will be a fun experience where you can learn more about the traditions behind the celebration.

I hope you all have an amazing Lunar New Year celebration and good fortune friends!

Xx
