Caribbean Travel

My very first travel blog post. *Patting myself on the back*.

Hello lovelies! This post has been in the works for quite some time. Back in February, we celebrated my dad’s 69th birthday on the Allure of the Seas by Royal Caribbean. If you have never been on a cruise before, this should be a good read.

So this particular cruise liner is technically the largest in the world – by one centimeter. Or something ridiculous like that. Let’s just say it’s pretty massive. Right when I walked in, there was a Starbucks – YAY! Our state room was a balcony facing the beautiful Central Park. Nothing like New York, but definitely a stunner. Other than the view, the room itself was pretty standard and a little too cramped for my liking. But I think that’s to be expected.

ACTIVITIES. There are plenty of sites and activities to keep you occupied. You name it, they have it. Well almost. I was a little disappointed they didn’t have a giant water slide. Or any kind of water slide. The biggest ship in the world didn’t have a water slide. Hmmm. I’m making a big deal of it because the last cruise I went on had an amazing one. Like…death defying roller coaster style. But ok, other than that, they had many things going for them. Of the memorable adult activities, they had zip-lining and simulated surfing which was SO COOL. I loved watching people try to stay on the surfboard for as long as they could before they fell on their tushes. It wasn’t so fun watching the show offs though. We get it, you can surf. Let’s see the ones that can’t so we can cheer them on and laugh in their face! So much more fun.

FOOD. I wasn’t very impressed with the buffet. I think I’m comparing it to the last cruise I went on where the buffet was really well done. However, if you are planning to do this cruise, you want to make sure you reserve your dinner time slot at The Grande. Unless you are doing any of the specialty dining experiences, the Grande is where you want to be. The service was spectacular, the food nicely plated and mostly all delicious! You can have as much as you want. Our waiter and his assistant knew our dining tendencies after the first night. He knew we wanted our coffee at the beginning of the meal, and knew to bring me ALL of the dessert choices. Lols. They were seriously the best and the Grande was where my most memorable times were. If you are looking for ambiance and aesthetic, make sure to try the Central Park Cafe. They have healthy fresh eats, and it’s so nice just sitting in Central Park with your coffee, catching up with your emails, Instagram and Snapchat. LMAO.
