COTTAGE LIFE

A week to decompress, plug out and spend time with my family was much needed.

It’s been a while since we’ve been to the cottage and it was nice to spend an entire week there with my family. We rented out a property in Harcourt, Ontario, about an hour away from Algonquin Park. The internet was very limited and there was no mobile/data service available. But weirdly, Snapchat was working and I was able to give you guys a mini tour of the interior and the grounds.

But if I’m being honest, I don’t love cottage living. I’m a big city girl at heart and can do without the mosquitoes and the musty, mildewy feel of living in a cottage. But the scenic views made up for it. The interior did have a great open concept with large floor to ceiling windows which made it very instagrammable. However, upon closer inspection, the home was unkept and the major seating areas needed to be replaced as it was pretty filthy. It definitely put me off and we had to cover the area with our blankets so we can sit on it. There were also tons of dead insects around the house and a friendly little mouse that lives in the fireplace. I know I know, that’s cottage living right? I’m just used to non-infested homes. LMAO.

All that aside, spending time with family is important to me. We don’t get to see each other often enough, so I love that we plan these events ahead of time. Our family gets along really well. We didn’t always though. But we’ve worked out our kinks and now we just enjoy each others company. The main thing is that we support and love each other unconditionally. Life may get ahead of us and it’s harder to keep in constant touch, but I think making time and cherishing those moments you have with your loved ones is what counts.
